Location is about 90 km northwest of Newman in the Pilbara region of Western Australia

Polished Golden Amphibolite slab GA146 mookatite Weighs 821 gramsGA146 A slab, polished on one side. Dimensions at widest points approximately 120 mm x 80 mm x 10 mm thick. Weighs 228 grams. The amphibolite, most likely grunerite , has now been largely altered to hematite, goethite and quartz and it displays a beautiful golden iridescence. Also called "Gold Leaf Stone". It occurs in the Pilbara region of Western Australia on Abydos Station approximately 120 km south of Port Hedland.
